Lammermuir Larder is a local community food initiative set up to support individuals and families in the Haddington area who are struggling financially to feed themselves and or their families. The Larder has been established by volunteers and has recieved support from the Haddington & District Community Council. Anyone at anytime, for whatever reason may need support.
The Larder is a non judgemental, there is no long complicated application forms and we offer a rapid response to ensure no one goes without food.
How Will it work?
Anyone requiring support will need to complete a short referral form. This can be completed by a professional or by the person in need of assistance. Referral forms can be obtained by contacting us. The returned referral form is dealt with by one person and all referrals are dealt with confidentially. On reciept of the referral a "Larder List" is forwarded to the person making the referral. When completed, the list is allocated a reference number. The completed list is then passed to the Larder where a supply of a week's worth of essential food is made up by a volunteer, then delivered directly to the person requesting support by one of our volunteers.
What Can We Do For You?
If you are struggling to feed yourself or your family please do not hesitate to contact us for support. Our support is totally confidential. You will recieve a week's supply of essential foods. If you require information on other support that may be available, we will try to help. The Larder is a referral only facility, So please contact us for more information.
Our Volunteers are here to help so please don't be anxious about contacting us.
What Can You Do To Help?
The Lammermuir Larder has collection boxes for food donations in the Co-Op (Hopetoun Drive), Kevin Watt Butchers, And Rosehall Stores. We also have collection boxes in JS Main's and Animal Magic for pet food and cleaning supply donations. Once the COVID-19 restrictions ease, we hope to add some more collection boxes in other shops. So why not add a couple of extra items to your weekly shop and pop them into one of boxes.
You can make a monetary donation to us to keep our food supplies well stocked up. To arrange this, please contact us.
If you have some spare time, and would like to volunteer, we are currently a small group, so there may be a waiting list for this. Please register your interest by contacting us.
We are always looking for strong carrier bags or bags for life.
